Mid-Level Operations Technician (full time) – Oakland, CA

Objectives for This Position: Both 44 Energy Technologies and Red Fox Resources are fast-paced, rapidly growing businesses.  We are looking for a motivated and energetic person to take on a number of technical and mechanical tasks involved vehicles, equipment, and maintenance of our facility.  The ideal candidate will be a “jack of all trades” with demonstrable hands-on experience and a strong willingness to learn new skills

This position will report to the Engineering Manager of 44 Energy Technologies.

Job Duties:

44 Energy Job Duties

  • Shuttle and transport vehicles
  • Manage paperwork related to DMV, insurance, purchasing, and selling
  • Load and unload transport vehicles
  • Maintain laboratory space
  • Component tear-downs for defect cases
  • Vehicle driving for PEMS and other testing

Red Fox Resources Job Duties

  • Maintain and improve catalyst processing equipment
  • Maintain and improve facility dust control and cleaning equipment

Abilities and Skills:

Driving

  • Clean driving record
  • Experience setting up and towing trailers
  • Comfortable driving 2500/3500 series pickup truck

Automotive

  • Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance. Replacing batteries, changing fuses, filling tires
  • Operating vehicle lift and loading vehicles onto transport vehicles

Tools and Equipment

  • Experience with basic hand tools and power tools, including table saw, chop saw and drill pressure
  • Experience operating a milling machine a plus.
  • Plasma cutter and welder

Computer and Electronics

Overview of Position: 

The position of Commercial Buyer for Red Fox Resources is a field procurement role in which the Commercial Buyer will spend the majority of time in the field negotiating purchase agreements for spent catalyst material.

The primary role of the Commercial Buyer is to generate new industry relationships through finding and procuring emission control components containing reclaimable platinum group metals (PGMs). The position will focus on the following markets/applications:

  • Stationary power generation, both backup and prime
  • Stationary natural gas compression and irrigation
  • Construction equipment dealers and service providers
  • Medium and heavy-duty truck & bus fleets and service providers
  • Distributors and manufacturers of emission control systems

The daily responsibility of the Commercial Buyer is to find and negotiate the purchase of spent or surplus catalyst material including diesel particulate filters, diesel oxidation catalysts, and catalyzed metal foils from trucks, buses, construction equipment, generators, and natural gas engines for the purpose of recycling and recovering platinum group metals (PGM). The role will be supported by an inside sales team whose responsibility is to help generate leads, maintain existing business relationships, and coordinate logistics of parts acquisitions, shipments, and payments.

Qualifications: 

  • Ability to clearly communicate the value package of Red Fox Resources both verbally and in writing.
  • A proven track record of buying or selling PGM bearing material. Experience cultivating new business is preferred, but the position may be filled by a candidate that has experience in an existing business supporting role.
  • Drive, self-motivation, and ability to work independently.
  • Drive and desire to generate significant business growth through developing new relationships. The right candidate will be energized and motivated by the need to deliver aggressive growth.

Overview of Position:

Red Fox is hiring for the position of Entry Level Operations Center Technician in our Oakland facility.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience working with his/her hands, including experience operating heavy machinery and using power tools. The candidate must also be able to quickly learn new skills, work effectively with others and be comfortable getting dirty. We deal primarily with heavy-duty diesel truck parts, with the scope of activity ranging from general checking in and processing of parts to very specialized technician-type diagnostic and repair work. We are looking for someone who can effectively and enthusiastically perform both types of activity with acute attentiveness to safety.

  • Shipping/Receiving inbound and outbound shipments (forklift operation will be required)
  • Inbound inventory receiving
  • Dismantling of heavy-duty truck parts
  • Operation of hydraulic recycling equipment
  • Operation of advanced diesel particulate filter cleaning equipment
  • Maintaining organization and cleanliness of Operations Center

Overview of Position:

Red Fox is hiring for the position of Catalyst Buyer in Northern California.

As a Catalyst Buyer you are a hunter and expected to be highly motivated and self-driven to grow a book of business by developing and managing customer relationships related to the purchase of parts. Daily activities include prospecting via on-line web research, cold calling and making in-person visits. You will initiate and maintain businesses relationships through regular contact and follow up. You will have or will gain the skills and knowledge to identify, evaluate, grade, and quote the purchasing of parts. Upon close of a deal, you will prepare all purchase documents, payment methods, and arrange for collection or transport of parts. Further you will follow and enhance best practices for the logistics and utilization of the company’s Customer Resource Management (CRM) platforms.

The position is as a full-time employee of Red Fox Resources working as a Catalyst Buyer in the greater San Francisco Bay Area and Northern California Territory. As a Catalyst Buyer, you will be responsible for finding and purchasing precious metals bearing automotive and industrial emission control parts for the purpose of recycling. The parts you will buy will include automotive catalysts (aka “3-way catalysts” or “autocats”), medium/heavy duty diesel aftertreatment components (aka “DOC” and “DPF”), and stationary emission control catalysts. Transactions will be business to business conducted in a compliant and professional manner. Potential sources of parts and material include, but not limited to: automotive and truck scrap yards, vehicle and equipment dismantlers, service and shops, heavy duty truck dealerships, commercial and municipal truck fleets, transit agencies, and auction houses.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Understand the rules and requirements for catalyst purchasing to ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations.
  2. Identify prospective sellers of automotive catalysts, diesel aftertreatment and stationary emission controls.
  3. Develop relationships through in person interface with customers.
  4. Inspect, evaluate, and grade parts to determine the offer price.
  5. Prepare, present, and negotiate purchase offers.
  6. Initiate and execute of business-to-business sales contracts.
  7. Ensure payments to parts suppliers are accurate and on time.
  8. Regular contributor to meetings to share market intelligence and best practices.

SKILLS and ABILITIES

 

The Catalyst Buyer should either have been trained or willing to be trained on the following skills:

  1. Use of e-mail, Excel, Word, Teams and other computer productivity tools.
  2. Use of sales management and CRM tools (Salesforce).
  3. Use of company parts database and external parts databases.
  4. Use of electronic devices such as smart phone or electronic tablet.

 

The Catalyst Buyer must have the ability to do the following:

  1. Understand and adhere to safety rules and policies.
  2. Have strong interpersonal skills suitable for building trusting relationships.
  3. Work in a physically demanding environment lifting and moving heavy parts (up to 75 pounds) by hand.
  4. Work in a collaborative environment as a member of a team.

  7. Work in a fast-paced environment driven by goals and deadlines.
  8. Be able to absorb and recall information and be comfortable with numbers.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

– High School diploma is required. A college degree in a technical or business field of study is a plus.

 

EXPERIENCE

– Relevant and similar experience is preferred, especially experience with automotive parts sales and supply, catalyst sales or catalyst procurement.
