Precious-Metal Recycling for Power Plants and Generators

Red Fox Resources recovers and recycles platinum-group metals (PGMs) from PGM-bearing emission-control equipment across the power sector—from natural-gas (NG) turbine power plants to diesel generator fleets (prime and standby). We handle removal, logistics, secure processing, and settlement so you capture maximum value while meeting environmental and operational requirements.

What We Recycle

Natural-Gas Turbine Power Plants
  • CO oxidation catalysts (Pt/Pd)
  • SCR catalyst elements used with ammonia/urea systems (application-dependent PGM use)
  • Combined systems integrated in simple-cycle and combined-cycle plants
Diesel Generators (Prime & Standby)
  • Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC)
  • Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) (cordierite, aluminum titanate, or SiC)
  • Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR)

How It Works

  1. Program setup – We scope site needs (single outage or ongoing program), part numbers, volumes, and timelines.
  2. Removal & logistics – Safe on-site packaging, labeling, and LTL/FTL freight to our processing partners.
  3. Processing – De-can, mill, and representative sampling per industry standards for accurate metal accounting.
  4. Settlement – Transparent returns for Pt/Pd/Rh via toll refining or part-purchase—whichever maximizes value for your operation.
  5. Documentation – Chain-of-custody and reporting to support ESG and compliance requirements.

Recycle Values

PGM-based aftertreatment components can carry meaningful recycle value. Typical single-unit returns often range from $50–$3,000 for smaller DOCs/DPFs/SCR bricks, while large NG-turbine catalyst banks (multi-module CO/SCR systems, multi-MW sites, or multi-skid change-outs) can aggregate to six- or seven-figure settlements—up to $1,000,000 under favorable conditions (formulation, volume, condition, and prevailing Pt/Pd/Rh prices).

Note: Actual settlement depends on assay results, weights, mix of materials, and market pricing at time of sale.

What drives higher value?

  • Volume & scale: Full banks / multi-module change-outs
  • Formulation: Higher PGM loadings (Pt/Pd/Rh)
  • Metal markets: Timing of sales vs. live pricing
  • Material condition: Intact, well-documented, properly packaged

Applications We Serve

  • NG turbine power plants (simple-cycle and combined-cycle)
  • Municipal and utility power, peaker plants
  • Data centers & hospitals (mission-critical backup)
  • Oil & gas production and midstream
  • Microgrids & distributed generation operations
  • Off-grid military bases
  • Remote agricultural & industrial operations
  • Other prime power and standby power applications
